Why We Built It This Way

Every Module Has A Reason

Nothing here is generic. Each piece of the system exists because of a specific moment on the ALS road, and each one was built for that moment before it arrives.

Bank Your Voice. Built first, because a diagnosis starts a clock. One minute of real speech is enough to rebuild a voice the family recognizes, and every phrase banked afterward makes it stronger.
Lip Reading. Built for the middle of the road, when volume fades but the mouth still moves. The camera reads silently mouthed phrases and speaks them in the banked voice. Families tell us this is the moment they get him back.
Eye Gaze and the suggest board. Built for the far end, where the eyes carry everything. The board offers likely words at one blink each and speaks on a long close, because for this community eye effort is not a convenience. It is the last channel, and we spend it like it matters.
The progression design itself. Voice, then lip reading, then eye gaze, with the same phrases and the same banked voice traveling the whole way. Most devices freeze one moment of ability. This condition never does, so the system does not either.
